Annual Benefit Statements (HSC)

Your annual benefit statement is issued before 31st August each year and will provide you with a snapshot of your pension benefits up to 31st March that year.

Your annual benefit statements are available to view on the Benefit Statements section of Member Self Service (MSS).

  • Why has my pension decreased from CARE compared to previous statements?

Due to McCloud anyone who was impacted moved into CARE on the 01/04/2022. Due to this taking place anyone who was in CARE previously their service has been rolled back into their legacy record. This means anything between 01/04/2015 and 31/03/2022 that would have been reflected in your CARE section of your statement in 2023 is now being reflected in your service within the legacy section of your Annual Benefit Statement.

  • Where is my Transferred in Service?

Transferred in Service will not show on your Annual Benefit Statement separately but will be included in the service of your legacy section of the statement if transferred in prior to 01/04/2022, anything after will be reflected in your CARE section. You can also view further details of your transferred in service on your Member Self Service portal.

  • What is Reckonable and Qualifying Service?

Qualifying service is the calendar amount of time from you start a post, until you end a post. The reckonable amount of time accounts for any adjustments that have been made to your service due to part time work and service breaks.

Reckonable service only applies to members of the 1995&2008 scheme as it is used for calculations. These do not apply on the 2015CARE scheme as this is worked out at the most recent pensionable earnings.

  • Why is my Annual Benefit Statement showing a lower pensionable salary

Pensionable Salary can reduce due to change in calculations to ensure Annual Benefit Statements are not over estimated. If you have two active Part Time records, your Annual Benefit Statement will use the lower pensionable salary figure.

  • Where can I find my Life Time Allowance?

2024 Annual Benefit Statements are now inclusive of the McCloud Remedy period, giving your 2015 Care Scheme start date as 01/04/2022. This means members impacted, benefits from 01/04/2015 – 31/03/2022 have been reverted back into your 1995/2008 legacy schemes and you may see different accrual rates on your statement. This may also make a difference to your LTA used as the schemes use different calculations. Please refer to pages 4-7 of your Annual Statement for calculations.

You will be given the choice when retiring if you want these benefits in your 1995/2008 scheme or your 2015 CARE scheme, however, it will now sit like this on your Annual Benefit Statement.
