Update and Virtual Roadshow

From 01/10/2021 Firefighters’ Pensions will be administered by HSC Pensions.

We previously wrote to you to let you know about our project to change and improve the administration of our Firefighters’ pension schemes.

We are writing to you today to remind you that the new systems are in place and from 1 October 2021, administration of our Firefighters’ pension schemes is going to be provided by HSC Pensions. We will continue to work closely with HSC Pensions to make sure the services provided continue to meet the needs of our members.

This is only an administrative change but it means that if you have a query or need any additional information about your pension, this will now be provided by a team at HSC Pensions.

If you are a member of a Firefighters’ pension scheme and have any queries about your pension, the new contact details you need are:

Over the coming months, the project will continue and a number of new benefits will be available including an easy to use, self-service portal that gives you greater access to information about your pensions.

As part of this change this year those who are enrolled in a Firefighters’ Pension scheme will receive an Annual Benefit Statement from HSC Pensions.

If you have any queries about your Annual Benefit Statement this year you should contact us.

This change in administration does not affect your pension terms and conditions and we will continue to keep everyone updated as the project progresses.

If you are already retired and in receipt of your pension you do not have to take any action and should continue to contact NIFRS with any queries in the first instance. The next phase of our project is to move across payment of pensions to HSC Pensions and we will keep members involved of progress.

  • Firefighters' Pension Virtual Roadshow

    We will be hosting a virtual roadshow on Firefighters’ Pensions via Zoom on 28
    September from 6pm- 7.30pm.

    This session will include a panel with representatives from NIFRS Finance Department, the FBU and HSC Pensions.

    This is for you if you are interested in an update on the transfer of Firefighters’ Pension administration to HSC Pensions and information on the McCloud Judgement. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

    For anyone who cannot attend we will record this session and make it available online.
